An article about my country in the English speaking press

What do the initial HIV and AIDS mean? AIDS or Aids is a set of symptoms and infections resulting from the damage to the human immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). AIDS is now a pandemic. In 2007 it killed an estimated 2, 1 million people, including 330,000 children in the world.

I found a very interesting topic regarding HIV and AIDS because these kinds of diseases are spreading very fast and more and more people are getting affected by them. I have chosen this article because I wanted to find an article not connected to politics. Moreover I find it hard to believe that one percent of the half million Ukrainian population is infected by these diseases.

This article is about the first visit and performance of the British singer Elton John in Kiev, which is the capital city of Ukraine. He held a concert in the main square of the capital city. Elton John and his group donated $2.6m to a HIV/AIDS charity foundation.

I like to listen to the songs of Elton John. I would be happy to go to his concert.

Globalization

The word Globalization is used to describe the increasing competition and cooperation between countries and societies across the world. Also it connects with trade, communication technology, travel, sciences, medicine, culture and food.

For the purposes of this issue I have chosen to focus on the spread of different ethnic foods. In Ukraine a traditional meal consisted of duck, local noodles and fresh salads. Over the past 10 years there has been a major change in eating habits. Now there are many different ethic restaurants, serving a huge variety of food that was not available in the past.

The influence from other countries is not just in the food served but also in preparation of food. Many chefs now come from the country where from the food style originated so the standards have improved. Now is much greater choice and quality.

Globalization in food is most widely with the spread of the giant junk food franchises and is not always positive for the health and cultural tradition.

In conclusion, the above information illustrates on the change in world eating habit and choices.
